Can't Get Enough of That Idaho Hick Fun

So, some friends of ours, the Staples, wanted to go looking for some "hot springs" this last weekend. Now, we are in kind of a "hot springs belt" here in the Twin Falls/Hagerman area. There are tons of Hot Springs around us. But Blake and Ben were looking for "hidden" hot springs they could find using the GPS Blake got for Chistmas. So we found a website with all the Idaho hot springs and the GPS coordinates for finding them (apparently we were not the first to have this brainstorm). After much deliberation they decided on the Bruneau River area. And we were off. We only past 6 other more "discovered" and "civilized" Hot Springs on our way (I'm just saying...). After getting lost a couple of times we did actually locate Indian Hot Tub, Hot Springs. It was definately "hidden" but not undiscovered. There were a few other people there when we drove up. We made the guys do a "nude bathing" check before we let the kids out of the trucks. But by the time we let our 3 kids, and the Staple's 5 girls out of the cars, and surrounded them with our "family atmosphere" everyone else cleared out rather quickly, and we had the place to ourselves. This is the Bruneau River. You can't really tell, but there is a 200 ft drop down into a canyon where the hot spring was.

Here's the trail down, and Blake and the kids "testing" the water. It was the perfect temp. Like a really hot bath. There was a cave back in the wall of the canyon, and a place to have a campfire. We roasted hot dog and smores. You couldn't ask for a better day. Where is that nice weather this week?

Jack hurrying to get in with everyone else.

The Staples

The kids had tons of fun. It was sandy on the bottom, with rocks to sit on. Big enough that the kids could play, and feel like they had a "swim". Then it was home for some baths, with lots of soap! I promise, the next post will have us doing something civilized. Some of you may be thinking we're alittle wacky with our "Hick Fun", but I love that my kids are gowing up in a somewhat rural atmosphere.

That sounds like so much fun! My brother-in-law and his dad do this GPS thing where they look for little treasures or something...I think they call it geo caching(sp). I mentioned to Ben that it might be fun, but I don't think he agreed. Maybe you guys would like that!

I am so glad you live in a "rural" setting (if you can really call it that....) so that when we visit, you can take us to cool hot springs. I will get in a bathing suit for hot springs any day. (And that is saying a lot!

I am totally down with the "Idaho Hick" fun! It is an amazing way to grow up!! We have all sorts of "Idaho Hick" things in our family. We didn't realize that it was weird until Emily got married and Patrick pointed them out.

We'll have to pick your brains and get the coordinates for some of those hot springs for when we are looking for something different to do. Right now we are trying out all the bike trails around Tri Cities and finding fun and different places to take the kayaks!!

Keep up the good work! Your kids are having an awesome childhood in hick country!!

Lots of love!!
